Dysart says 'NOT NOW, NOT EVER' to DFV

The Dysart Community Support Group joined with BMA and Centacare CQ to celebrate International Day of Families on Sunday, 15th May with a ‘Picnic in the Plaza’. Local groups and clubs supported the event hosting a range of food or craft stalls, and an appearance by Dysart’s Fire Station staff in their big red truck was very popular with the kids.

The day provided a wide variety of free games and activities for families to participate in as well as the opportunity to get an impromptu family portrait with local photographer Melissa Macklin. Organisations and groups who provide support services to families in the local area, contributed information and goodies to packs distributed on the day. Attendees also added their hand print or artwork to a community ‘NOT NOW, NOT EVER’ banner in support of raising awareness for Domestic & Family Violence, sharing the message that it will not be tolerated in the Dysart Community.

The event was a great success thanks to the support of BMA and Centacare CQ. Events like this provide valuable opportunities for local residents to connect with their local community. It was wonderful to see families enjoying a relaxed morning out while learning more about the groups, clubs and organisations that can support them in our local area.
