The Novel Experience

 

The Community Centre offers a bookstore with a difference, The Novel Experience, which operates during The Dysart Community Centre’s usual opening hours! The Novel Experience has an impressive range which includes a good variety of both classic and recently released titles.  Community members can donate their preloved books and the bookstore for treasures to take home. 

 

The Dysart Community Support Group Inc partnered with BMA Coal, The Department of Communities and the Dysart community to see this bookshop come to life.  An additional room was constructed at the Dysart Community Centre to accommodate this need.  The Dysart community donated books and assisted with construction and set-up of shelving and literature.  Securing these donations of books made more funds available for shelving, furnishing and completion of the building works. The Dysart Paint and Pallette Group, a sub-group of the Dysart Community Support Group Inc painted a mural on the exterior of the Bookshop to promote community awareness of the availability of this service. Unfortunately, water damage to the building meant this incredible community artwork is no longer a feature, but it's removal allowed for the addition of a direct entry point for the bookshop.

 

“The Novel Experience” provides access to a larger selection of books and assists DCSG to engage community members with other services available at the Dysart Community Centre.  This service also provides a friendly meeting place for community members to access programs, internet and technology.
